Commercial Cleaning Checklist: Spots Your Janitor Won’t Miss!

Here at Select Janitorial, we wanted to provide a commercial cleaning checklist: spots your janitor won’t miss!

Select Janitorial has been providing the highest-quality cleaning and janitorial services for post-construction buildings, restaurants, offices, and more across British Columbia for over 20 years. As such, we hire only the most conscientious janitors on Vancouver Island, Fraser Valley & the Interior to ensure that your commercial cleaning needs are met every time.

As such, we know the ins and outs of any good commercial cleaning checklist. Here are three crucial spots that your Select Janitorial janitor won’t miss.

Commercial Cleaning Checklist Item #1: Standard Areas

Standard areas that require a thorough clean (particularly during COVID-19) include the following:

  • Tables
  • Toilets
  • Sink handles
  • Doorknobs
  • Light switches
  • Electronics
  • Countertops
  • Cabinets

Each and every one of those high-touch surface areas require a combination of dusting, vacuuming, sanitizing, and/or mopping. In addition, frequent and thorough garbage removal is advised in order to keep your commercial space looking and smelling fresh.

Commercial Cleaning Checklist Item #2: Hidden Areas

“Hidden areas” include surfaces that non-professional janitors or in-house staff miss more often than not.

Specifically, common examples of hidden areas include windows, blinds, baseboards, the tops of furniture, surface-polishing, and the deep-cleaning of fabric surfaces within your commercial space.

Odours and bacteria linger in fabrics and in the air if all of these requirements are not met consistently. Having professional janitors come in a minimum of once per week will work to mitigate allergens, alleviate general breathing problems (such as asthma, which can be worsened by dust), and stop the spread of germs between staff or between customers.

Commercial Cleaning Checklist Item #3: Medical-Grade Sanitization

Particularly important for public lavatories, medical-grade sanitization should only be carried out by janitorial professionals.

While many companies who currently conduct their commercial cleaning in-house believe that they are executing “deep cleans”, the reality is that only professional janitorial staff have the expertise, resources, and products available to complete an authentic deep-clean.

This includes knowing the proper dilution of each sanitization product for each unique surface, the time required to deep clean each area of the lavatory, and the ability to recognize any concerns regarding the time allotted (for example, needing more time in order to dedicate it to certain high-touch areas in the lavatory).

In short, don’t settle for mediocre “deep cleans”: reach out today to book the real thing.
