COVID-19 And Your Office: What You Need To Know

COVID-19, or coronavirus as it is more commonly known, has recently generated quite a lot of concern. It is important to know that in general, the risk posed by the virus is quite low. It is estimated by the World Health Organization (WHO) that of those who contract the illness, only 3.4% will pass. When compared to SARS, which had a mortality rate of 9.6%, the risk of grave harm to your staff and customers is quite low. The risk of passing away from this illness goes down substantially if you are under the age of 80 and do not live with preexisting conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, hypertension or cancer.

However, the annual flu has a mortality rate of only 0.1%, making the coronavirus much more deadly than the common flu. Aside from the worst-case scenario of death, nobody wants to catch and live with the symptoms of the flu! Living through that is challenging and quite unpleasant.
